Outsiders season 2 episode 13 “Unbroken Chain” ended the show on several big cliffhangers. Outsiders was an original drama series from WGN America, who also produced Salem, and followed the clash of cultures between a group of outsiders and a small Kentucky town. This clan has lived outside of society for generations, but drama comes in the form of a coal company looking to evict them from the mountain they live on, and the return of a family member after a decade away....

Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 kaiju movie, has had a a rough road to production. For a brief time the project was shelved entirely until suddenly pre-production had begun with del Toro serving as producer, not director. Uprising stars Star Wars: the Force Awakens’ favorite Stormtrooper John Boyega as the son of Idris Elba’s character Striker Pentecost. Bogeya leads the cast alongside Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad, Snowden)....

Opera’s browser for Mac is finally out of beta, its headline feature being built-in unlimited VPN. The company first added it to the developer version back in April. A VPN is good for security, and can speed up some overseas sites by automatically choosing the fastest connection, but don’t expect to use it to access content from a different Netflix region. I tested it from the UK, using a U.S. VPN....

The winners of the 2019 Oscars have been announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It’s been a rather tumultous year for the Academy, all things considered. The organization announced several changes to the 2019 Oscars show over the past several months, as part of its efforts to battle the event’s dwindling ratings over the last decade. However, pretty much each and every change they announced (the Best Popular Film category, not performing all of the Original Song nominees, moving awards like Best Editing and Cinematography to the commercial breaks) went over badly and the Academy was quick to back-track on them....

Bad actors were able to bypass the two-factor authentication mechanism used by the bank to secure its customers’ accounts. The researchers at TrendMicro coded the campaign as “Operation Emmental” due the presence of numerous holes in banking security implemented by financial institutions, exactly like the popular Swiss Emmental cheese. The attackers used a malware to bypass security mechanisms implemented by the bank. The malicious code was designed to intercept SMS tokens used to authorize banking transactions....

Apple unveiled its mobile payment service Apple Pay last September alongside the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch later rolling it out to new iPhone users in October through the free iOS 8.1 software update. Dozens of banks and credit unions have flipped the switch on Apple Pay since then as more merchants have announced support or plans to accept the new payment method. Apple Pay, which allows users to securely pay in stores using the latest models of the iPhone simply by placing the smartphone near a special terminal, uses your existing credit or debit card without revealing personal information like your name or card number to merchants....
