Os X Mountain Lion S Airplay Mirroring Apparently Not Yet Supported On All Macs

We’re hearing reports that OS X Mountain Lion’s AirPlay Mirroring feature is not supported on all Macs. The video we posted last night that shows the feature in action uses a MacBook Pro, and it has been working on our 1.8 GHz MacBook Air. It’s not working, though, on our 2.4 GHz 2010 Mac mini or 2010 MacBook Pro with a 2.66 GHz processor and 4GB of RAM. Some are thinking that Apple is restricting dual-core Macs, but our MacBook Air is dual-core....

Padding Oracle Attack

Background information In my previous article, I described the types of encryption schemes available. Here is a quick summary of them. There are two types of encryption schemes: Symmetric key encryption: Encryption and decryption keys are the same. Asymmetric key encryption: Encryption and decryption keys are not the same. Symmetric key encryption can use either stream ciphers or block ciphers. A stream cipher encrypts one bit at a time, while a block cipher encrypts plaintext in chunks....

Passwords Are Broken There S A Better Way To Authenticate Users

Why We Take Off Our Shoes in the United States but not in Israel Anyone who’s flown in the United States knows about TSA security. We take off our coats, avoid liquids, and take off our shoes before going through security. We have a no-fly list based on names. These are reactions to specific threats. That’s not the way a country like Israel does security. I haven’t flown El-Al (Israel’s national airline), but friends tell me about the interviews they go through in security....

Online Dictionary Attack With Hydra

Brute force vs. dictionary attack An attacker can try every possible password combination (brute force approach). The advantage is guaranteed success in finding the right password. The drawback is that it is a very time-consuming process. It’s probable that a typical user is frustrated about password best practices and uses a pattern for the password (for example a common word and a digit appended at the end). Then the attacker can build a set of common words concatenated with a digit (an exemplary pattern in the dictionary) and try every combination from this set....

Oscars 2020 Predicting All Winners In Every Category

Here are our predictions for the winners of the Oscars 2020 in every category. It’s rare that the Academy Award nominations are announced without some sort of controversy or pushback, but the choices for the 92nd Oscars felt especially designed to annoy audiences. Sure, there were some amazing nominees up there, from Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite to Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, but it was hard to overlook how this was yet another year with an all-male director line-up and 19 out of the 20 acting nominees were white....

Outlander Jamie Fraser S 10 Best Costumes Ranked

The focal point of Outlander, aside from the prevalent Scottish history and time-traveling, is the love story that will stand the test of time between Jamie and Claire Fraser. Overwatch On Nintendo Switch Leaks Again Launches Next Month

It seems that one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry is out of the bag, as a port of Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch has leaked once more. Blizzard Entertainment was one of the companies that were originally reticent to support the Nintendo Switch during the early days of the console’s lifespan, especially following the reception to the Nintendo Wii U. The Nintendo fans have been asking for a port of Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch since the console first launched, but Blizzard seemed hesitant, especially as the game was still receiving regular updates on different systems....

Opinion Apple Watch Music Show Intuitive Software Should Be Top Priority For Apple S New Vp Of Ui Design

Like many other people, I signed up for Apple Music yesterday because it was intriguing and free. Having skipped earlier subscription music services, I didn’t have Spotify playlists to worry about losing or importing, and I hadn’t experienced truly unlimited access to a giant music selection before. Apple Music’s sign-up process turned out to be great: attractive, simple, and just personal enough to learn my tastes without feeling creepy. It’s also likely to win long-term customers: sign up your family, and after 3 months, someone’s going to insist on keeping Apple Music (or just forget to cancel it)....

Opinion What Approach Will Apple Take To Deliver A Larger Screen Iphone 6

I wrote in an earlier opinion piece that 2014 is the year when I expect Apple to finally give in and opt for a larger iPhone display. Assuming I’m right, the question then becomes: what approach will Apple take? There are two ways of increasing the size of a display. First, you can keep the resolution the same and simply use larger pixels. That’s what happens when a manufacturer makes a 1080P HD TV in both 40- and 50-inch sizes, for example....
